Explore the teachings and traditions behind the Indigenous tipi in this interactive children's workshop led by Kelly Gordon of Alberta Landbased Education. Participants will learn about the cultural importance of tipis and gain insight into how they are traditionally constructed and set up in real life. Through this hands-on experience, you’ll create your own mini tipi while deepening your understanding of its role in Indigenous culture and community life.
This program is open to ages 6 and up. Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to assist with assembly. It’s a unique opportunity to learn practical skills, connect with Indigenous traditions, and celebrate cultural heritage.
This event is proudly supported by the Ethnocultural Grant from the Government of Alberta as part of Weaving Connections: Indigenous Culture, History, and Healing, an initiative dedicated to fostering understanding and cultural appreciation.
